Probonix Restore and Probonix Repair | Humarian Which one should you take? Should you be taking both at the same time? We receive questions about these two products often, so I thought it might be good to provide a bit more clarity. Let’s start by breaking down what each one of them does.


Probonix Restore is the probiotic we recommend for those that are currently taking or have recently taken antibiotics. Antibiotics nullify bacteria by killing them or eliminating their ability to replicate. Antibiotics are essential tools in medicine for dealing with harmful bacteria, but they aren’t very good at recognizing friend from foe. Many good bacteria are also eliminated when you take antibiotics. This does not mean you shouldn’t be taking antibiotics, but it does mean that you should consider ways to support and replenish your gut’s supply of healthy bacteria when taking them.

Probiotics in general are good to take when on antibiotics, but we have specially formulated Restore to be the best probiotic to take when on antibiotics. The probiotic mixture in Probonix Restore contains a higher concentration of Bifidobacterium than other Probonix. Many of the most commonly prescribed antibiotics kill off Bifidobacterium, while only some of the more common antibiotics are harmful to Lactobacillus, so we formulated Probonix Restore to repopulate a battered Bifidobacterium population. Probonix Restore also contains higher concentrations of strains that help to protect against antibiotic side effects, like upset stomach, allergic responses, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and even particularly nasty conditions like Clostridium difficile (C.diff).


Probonix Repair is a supplement that is designed to promote proper tissue growth and repair in the gastrointestinal tract. Damage in the gastrointestinal tract can occur for a number of reasons, like poor diet, chronic stress, or dysbiosis (an imbalance between good and bad bacteria in the gut), and it can lead to food allergies, low energy, joint pain, and even more severe long-term consequences like Leaky Gut Syndrome or autoimmune diseases. Repair provides your body with the materials it needs to rebuild a damaged gastrointestinal tract.

If I’m currently taking a Probonix probiotic or Repair, should I take the other?

Possibly. Probonix is important for restoring and maintaining a healthy microfloral balance in the gut, while Repair helps to repair damage to the lining of the gut. One thing to keep in mind is that Probonix will have a much greater impact in a gut where the lining is healthy and intact than in a gut with damaged walls, especially if the damage is severe enough to cause leaky gut syndrome. If you have an unhealthy diet, rarely exercise, and experience frequent or chronic stress, there’s a good chance you would benefit from adding Probonix Repair to compliment your Probonix probiotic.

If I’m eating fermented foods, should I still take a probiotic supplement like Probonix?

If you have a very healthy lifestyle, Repair can still be beneficial. Your gut may be relatively healthy now, but it is constantly turning over new cells. While a Probonix probiotic will provide the beneficial bacteria needed to alleviate dysbiosis, one of the most common causes of leaky gut syndrome, it does not provide the building blocks that the gut needs in order to maintain and repair itself. Probonix Repair provides those building blocks. This ensures that your body has all the materials it needs to keep the lining of the gut in great shape.

Can I stop taking my probiotic and only take Repair?

Without regular probiotic supplementation, dysbiosis can become a problem. Probonix Repair will help to repair damage lining of the gut, but it will not help to restore a healthy balance of bacteria. If you only take Repair, you’ll start to rebuild your gut lining, but unaddressed dysbiosis could lead to it being damaged again very shortly thereafter. It is beneficial to take a probiotic alongside Probonix Repair to ensure that you are promoting a healthy balance of bacteria in addition to repairing the gastrointestinal tract.
