Product Update: Changes to Probonix Dosage

Probonix Usage DosageHumarian recently made some changes to the dosage on our Probonix bottles, so we thought it would be helpful to write a quick blog on the subject.

One important note to start: the formulas for Probonix have not been changed in any way. The only changes are to the associated dosages.

Now take Probonix once a day

We decided to make this change based on feedback from our customers. In short, a large majority of our customers were taking 4 drops early in the day and then skipping the second serving because they forgot or because life got in the way.

While it is still ideal to take 4 drops twice per day, it is much more important to get the entire 8 drop serving each day. If you are someone that has never had an issue with remembering to take Probonix twice per day, you can keep on doing that! But if you are someone that regularly forgets to take the second serving, give yourself one less thing to worry about and just take 8 drops once per day.

Changes to Children’s Probonix dosage

As I’m sure some of you have noticed, the dosage for Children’s Probonix made a pretty big jump recently. What caused us to change the dosage from this:

  • Children (over 100 lbs.) take 4 drops 2x a day
  • Children (under 100 lbs.) take 2 drops 2x a day
  • Infants (under 30 lbs.) take 1-2 drops a day

to this:

  • Children (over 30 lbs.) 8 drops daily
  • Infants and Children (under 30 lbs.) 6 drops daily

Simply put, when we originally launched the Children’s Probonix formula, we were conservative in the dosage. The acid mixture that coats the healthy probiotic bacteria in Probonix is the key to its success. It is the reason that Probonix is able to have a high survival rate that significantly outperforms our competition. However, this acid mixture is very potent, and while it has been thoroughly tested to be safe for infants and children, the doctors and scientists that developed Probonix wanted to take further precautionary steps while launching the product into the market for the first time. They decided to use a lower initial acid dose until a confirmatory two-year study of acid tolerance had been completed.

Upon completion of this study and more than two years of additional research, observation, and customer feedback, the doctors determined that there was absolutely no cause for concern. The acid mixture has been well-received by infants and children alike, so the doctors felt it was time to increase the dose of Children’s Probonix in order to provide a more potent and effective dosage of probiotic bacteria to the developing guts of infants and small children.

If you have been giving your child Children’s Probonix for some time and have been happy with the results of the original dosage, you are more than welcome to continue to follow that dosage. As mentioned above, the formula itself has not changed at all. These are simply our new recommendations based on updated research and feedback.

That’s it! As mentioned previously, the formulation of all Probonix products is exactly the same, so if you feel more comfortable taking it the same way you have previously, feel free to do so.

Same Formula, Enhanced Flavors

Oh, there is one other thing we updated along side our dosages… the flavors! We have introduced a new cherry flavor for all of our Probonix lines, and we improved our existing grape flavor for Adult 1-month, Women’s and Children’s. Updated grape flavor for 2-month and Restore is on the way. Be sure to give those a look next time you shop for a new bottle of Probonix.
