There are more than 100 trillion bacteria living in your body. In fact, you have more bacteria in your body than cells! Some bacteria in your body are harmful and can be responsible for a wide range of health issues. They can cause everything from diarrhea to tuberculosis. Your body could be overloaded with harmful bacteria for a variety of reasons, like poor diet or lack of sleep.
On the flip side, many of the bacteria in your body are beneficial. These good bacteria, also known as probiotics, aid in digestion, strengthen the immune system, and help to keep harmful bacteria in check. Maintaining a proper balance of good to bad bacteria is important for preventing harmful substances from gaining access to the rest of your body.
